Lately I've discovered the power of meditation. It's not that I didn't know of it before or haven't tried it, it's just that it's only now that has clicked for me.
Suddenly it made sense, the breathing, the mind wandering, the sounds, the focus and attention, listening to my body....
I've learnt a couple of things by meditating, first, not to give up (again, something I knew and I've always practiced) but I meant never giving up on anything that matters to you; whether this is a small thing like perfecting your eye liner technique to achieving your career goals.
When I started meditating I thought of giving up a couple of times, after all, what was the need of keeping trying? No one knew I was doing it, no one was holding me accountable and it wasn't something I was going to win a medal for.... right?
Except this was the second lesson meditation had to teach me: do whatever you do for yourself, don't expect anyone to give you a pat on the shoulder (don't get me wrong, I do too appreciate when this happens, I just don't take it for granted or expect it to happen when I do things). Do things because they make you feel better, because they make you be proud of yourself, because you enjoy doing them... because if you wait to do something for someone to praise you then you'll be sat around and watching your life go by right in front of your eyes.
People will love you, people will hate you. You won't be everybody's cup of tea, and that's ok. I for once prefer coffee ;)
Embrace your uniqueness, love you for who you are and keep striving to be a better you. Because when you connect to yourself you're in tune with the Universe, you shine so bright that it won't matter if it rains or snows, you'll carry the sun with you! Everywhere and every day.
And everyone loves a ray of light ;)
Now my dear, what are you doing to shine today?
Love, and keep dreaming
